I did my student teaching during the Fall 2014 school year at Sherman Independent School District. Since my teacher certification is in Technology Applications, it was decided to spread my classroom experience across multiple grades and school campuses. Central Office - Prepared iPad carts for all 4th grade classrooms across the district - Each cart had 14 iPad mini tablets in protective cases, wired keyboards, and cabling for charging the tablets. The iPads were loaded with software that would be used to improve overall computer and software knowledge Elementary Schools (Henry Sory and Fairview) - Worked with mentor teacher and teachers at different campuses to prepare lessons using different pieces of Microsoft Office software - For fourth grade created PowerPoint presentations on Base 10 Numbers and Fractions that used drag and drop features, cutting and pasting equality symbols to make number sentences correct and using tool bars to add shapes (Example on page) - For third grade classes created a Publisher class where students made a brochure of Bill of Rights, Constitution and Declaration of Independence facts which could be used in future classroom activities Middle School (Piner) - Worked with mentor teacher instructing 7th and 8th grade students with students of varied backgrounds (including Pre-AP, and Special Ed students) using Microsoft Office software - "All About Me" project is a PowerPoint presentation to incorporate backgrounds, sounds, photos and clip art to tell about themselves; students started with story board to design project, created it and then presented to class - "Children's Book" project using PowerPoint and Paint to write a book for Elementary age student. Students started with storyboard design, drew pictures in Paint and then added text, sounds and movement to create digital storybook. - Excel spreadsheet activity creating spreadsheet with text and numbers to spell out phrase - Internet safety High School - Worked with mentor teacher for Computer Animation and Computer Graphics classes - Students used Maya software to create a 3D model of their desk with at least 10 items with rich detail and textures - Had to learn basic Maya and 3D rendering in a month to teach how to render a 3D model
I would like to thank my mentor teachers Ann, Sharice, Renee and Jeff for the wonderful experience working with great kids.
